Странно е, че го казвам, но книгата ми харесва. Не мога да кажа, че я обожавам, дори не мога да кажа, че я обичам. Просто я харесвам. Най-вече, защото за много млади хора, тя е напълно реалистична.

Когато бях малка някой ми каза, че децата са жестоки, защото не разбират истинското въздействие на думите и не осъзнават как само една дума може да те нарани по-лошо и от нож. И ако децата биват оневинени от безхаберието на младостта, то тогава какво е оправданието на тийнейджърите? Какво им дава прав Странно е, че го казвам, но книгата ми харесва. Не мога да кажа, че я обожавам, дори не мога да кажа, че я обичам. Просто я харесвам. Най-вече, защото за много млади хора, тя е напълно реалистична.

И ако децата биват оневинени от безхаберието на младостта, то тогава какво е оправданието на тийнейджърите? Какво им дава правото да бъдат още по-жестоки и безмилостни в думите, които изричат или в интригите, които забъркват? И ако на този въпрос има безброй много отговори, то на следващия, поне за мен има само един - слабостта. Защото няма по-голям враг на човека от самия него. И за мен Хана Бейкър е точно това - най-големият си враг. Всяка една касета е доказателство точно за това. Всяка една страна, всяка една история, описана в книгата е поглед назад, в миналото, към което човек трябва да се обръща само когато търси от какво да се поучи. Няма по-добър и по-богат извор на поуки от собственото ни минало, от нещата, които са се случили в него и ако те продължават да са част и от настоящето ни, то е защото им позволяваме да бъдат такива. Може би точно поради тази причина не мога да бъдат съпричастна на героинята, а може би тя избобщо не иска това от нас. Може би книгата всъщност е един голям наръчник за това как не бива да постъпваме в подобни ситуации.

Мога да говоря още много по темата, да размишлявам над всяка една страница в книгата, да споря със самата себе си и с героите в нея, но няма да го направя, защото колкото и хубава да е книгата, що се отнася до мен тя не успя да изпълни предназначението си. Но ако някой ден имам деца, поне тогава ще знам как да се обърна към тях с думите "Ето това е нещо, което не бива да правите", не защото не е изход, а защото е изход само и единствено за ВАС. ...more

Before I start the review, I'd like to say some things about suicide in general.First of all, I don't understand people who commit suicide, nor do I like or respect them.For me killing yourself means that you are too weak to keep fighting and you give up on life altogether.It means that you are taking the only thing that you actually, really have - your own life,and I can't imagine how could anything, anything at all make you do it.

I don't usually read books like that one.I think books are for escaping reality, and if I wanted to read about tragedies I'd simply read the newspaper.The reason I picked up this book was because I was trying to understand why would anyone take their own life.And finally the actual review starts,for those still reading it.

I really wanted to understand and sympathize with Hannah,I really did, but she made it really,really hard. First of all,it seemed like her biggest problem were the people at school,who were jerks. Well,guess what Hannah,life's hard and it isn't just you, but the rest-they get even,they move on, because it's just high school,it's just the beginning of your life. All the reasons you gave, all thirteen of them, well Hannah, honey hate to break it to you, but there are way, way worse things that could happen, and a lot of people have been through way worse, and guess what, they're still here, still fighting and not giving up.

And Hannah why do you blame everybody else, except yourself. Because you are the one who's most to blame. You say it's their fault, for not caring, not helping. Well guess what, it's not all about you, other people have problems too. Also, they would have helped, Clay would have, Mr.Porter would have, but they couldn't because you wouldn't let them, because you didn't want to be saved.Even if someone had listened it wouldn't have changed a thing, cause you have already made up your mind. And you could have stopped some of it, especially some of your last tapes - you could have reached out to Clay, could have stopped Bryce, and I mean both times, especially the second time.You say they are reasons to kill yourself, but who did it to you,huh Hannah? Yeah,you did and you know it.

Since I don't want to go all wise and fortune cookie on you(those of you still reading the review) with my lecture on why suicide was wrong,here are some of the good aspects of the book(well,you know after a little bit more whining).Why did you,Hannah, have to burden those people,yeah some of them deserved it,some of them might actually change, but why do this to Clay, who did nothing but like you?Yeah it changed him,for the good even, and it did show an important massage,but still why make him suffer.One good thing you did though - maybe changed the way those people acted. That is one of the things I liked about the book.Another was the way it was presented-through tapes. Since I listened to it on audio book it did make me feel like I was Clay,sitting on the bus, listening to Hannah. And it was also one of those books that make you want to keep reading(or listening) till the end,even if you did it only to find out if Hannah has any real reasons to kill herself.

In the end,it is a good book, far better than the whole "guess the monster and the stupid human girl who fall for each other" crap, that's taking over the world.Yet,I still don't get you or understand why you killed yourself ,Hannah, and I probably never will. ...more

Whew, what can I say about this book? I suppose it left me with mixed feelings. I was very much considering giving it 3 stars. It was an interesting one as a way of execution - the audiotaped confessions of Hannah Baker about her motives to commit suicide, which are supposed to be consequently sent to all the people who in one way or another led her to that decision. The book is well-written, and you can entirely submerge in the story. I had no problem to distinguish the thoughts of the two main characters: Hannah and Clay opposite to what certain readers mentioned.

Also, as I went through other reviews I noticed some people say Hannah's reasons to commit suicide are shallow, etc. When I first started reading the book same thing went to my mind, but as I read further I realized that I am simply reading the book at another stage of my life.
