Yes, I often read kids' books. I am a teacher. Want to fight about it?
This isn't your usual book for children. Its protagonist, Joey, has ADHD. He lives with his mom, who works. When he gets into too much trouble on his own one summer, Joey's mom decides that maybe it IS a good idea to let him spend some time with his recovering alcoholic jerk of a father. As it turns out, though, dad hasn't really recovered, and also thinks Joey doesn't need his medication.
