Wow. I adore the TV show True Blood but somehow, never got around to reading this.
What was I waiting for?!
Devoured it in three days. Housework? Kids? what are those and who cares?! I just could not put this one down. It is different enough from the TV show that I didn't feel as though anything was spoiled. Sookie, as a character, is much funnier in print than on the small screen. I just love her internal dialogue, and her relationship with Bill is sweet and scary and breathtakingly hot without b ...more

I picked this book because I have heard it mentioned so many times in almost all the paranormal groups I’ve been a part of. Furthermore, after the release of the HBO True Blood series, the talk got more incessant, that I finally have to satisfy my curiosity and pick the book.
I actually ended with an audio book, pleasantly narrated by Johanna Parker, I was immediately captivated by the chatter of Sookie’s mind. A bar waitress with a psychic “disability” of reading other people’s thoughts, she was ...more

Ok so I just made a great long review on this and hit exit by mistake so I guess I'm going to have to do it over... so sorry if it's a little so/so. hehe.

I was drawled into this series by the covers and found out what was in them was even better. I read these before the books inspired the HBO's True Bloos series, which |I do like.. But I love the books way better. Isn't that always the ...more

A great start to a new series which I think I am going to enjoy very much. I watched the television show first but it didn't make the book any less interesting. The TV show was so different in ways that the book stayed interesting! I really liked Sookie and Bill! The authors style of writing was a nice change and I am excited to get on to the next one.

Charlaine Harris's book was well written and very engaging. Found myself not wanting to be ripped away for reading it.
