Richelle Mead's VAMPIRE ACADEMY is my favorite YA series yet. I was hooked from this book and read all four in a day and a half. I cannot wait for SPIRIT BOUND in May 2010.I've heard people comparing this to TWILIGHT and I really don't know why. It's nothing like it. Don't get me wrong, I liked TWILIGHT a lot, it's just not on much of the same level as this series and I find VAMPIRE ACADEMY less predictable that kept me on edge more. And I also love the character selection more.

I had already read and loved the book, so this review is just for the narration. She did a good job of coming up with different voices for the characters, even if some were a bit whiny and nasaly. Her Dimitri had a much strong Russian accent than he did in my head, but it didn't bother me. Really quite good!

Vampire Academy is a great book. The Characters are relate-able , I love that Rose is a fighter and protector instead of a defenseless girly girl who needs protecting. I also love the balance that Richelle Mead creates between her romance and paranormal components of the book. its perfectly balanced out and action packed. Its the perfect meeting point for lovers of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Twilight.

Selfless. Rose and Lissa share a special bond that transcends their friendship, and Rose's role as Lissa's guardian. What immediately struck me was that, though not a flawless young woman, Rose was so incredibly selfless when it came to protecting Lissa. The connection between Rose and Lissa was compelling and the events that play out in this first book of the Vampire Academy series were a constant thrill ride. While the action and intrigue were enough to sell me on this series I have to admit t

After having been recommended to me so many times, I finally got a copy from the library.
From the first page, I was enraptured as I follow the adventure of two girls, so different from each other but bound by friendship and something much more.
Rose is the smart-mouthed body guard-in-training for the beautiful, princess Lissa. The story opened with them on the run, only to be captured and brought back into the academy.

I absolutely loved this book. Rose is a kick butt heroine and Dimitri is a hot hunk of vampire. I think this has the potential to be one of my all time favourite series. This book certainly sets up for some very interesting things to happen in upcoming books. My first 5 star book of 2010!!!

WOW,
The characters where great just seemed really slow for me.
I didn't think I'd ever get this book read, but half way though the book it picked up and I found I liked reading it and can't hardly wait to read what happens next in Frostbite.
