I had high expectations going into this book, being such a huge fan of Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series - and she didn't disappoint. Covet is a really strong first novel of what promises to be an exciting and thoroughly enjoyable series.
She's developed a great character in Jim, giving us a glimpse into his past, and leaving us anxious to learn more. His cohorts - Eddie, Adrian (and Dog) also have interesting pasts I'm anxious to discover and their presence made the story much more enjoyab ...more

J.R. Ward's new series started out about the same as her BDB books. A little slow in the beginning. There is always so much plot to set up in her books. About half way through the book took an amazing turn and putting it down was very hard.
It was nice to see a few familiar faces in this book. Trez, Detective De La Cruz and even if my guess is correct Phury. Trez turned out to be my favourite secondary character. Such a gentleman. I can't wait to hear more about him.

I guess when you go in with low expectations you are surprised. I had heard a lot of negative things about this book, but I really liked it. I'm a sucker for good verses evil and for a hero that is far from perfect. Plus, I like the fact that it seems that characters we like and met in the first book will continue through the stories and the HEA are sort of in the background. Jim Heron- what a great character! And I love Dog too. Plus Eddie and Adrian-- Adrian has that whole antihero thing happe
