A short novella that is a prequel to the Sword of Truth series. It's the story of Zedd as a young man, although already first wizard, and how he creates the boundaries that separate The Midlands from D'Hara. The character of Adie plays a central role in here too.

I adore Terry Goodkind and the Sword of Truth series, but I could not get into this book. I thought it was kind of pointless. I saw no reason for the character of Abby. How was she at all relevant? I did like seeing Zedd younger and it made me smile when he said "bags." However all and all, I did not like this book.
