I've talked to several people who have read the series but for some reason bypassed this book. This book tells the story of Zedd as a young man testing his skills and wits against the evil D'haran empire and Panis Rahl. You also learn some back story on Richards mother. To me the timelines never quite lined up right with the rest of the Sword of Truth series, but still a very entertaining book. ...more
