What can you even say about this book? Besides Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, this is THE first-hand account of the Holocaust.

Wiesel is not the best writer/story-teller. It's a bit clipped and clinical. But it's not powerful because of melodic words; it's powerful because it's all horribly, horribly true. Others have written more beautifully, fiction and nonfiction (I was glad that I had just read A Thread of Grace, which had the lovely writing and emotional connection with the characte
