What Members Thought

I’m conflicted trying to evaluate Anna Karenina. On one hand, I’d like to shout, “I hated it! I hate Tolstoy!” On the other hand, I can’t go so far. Denied the sense of catharsis I’d get if only I could unreservedly roast this book, I’m stuck in no-man’s land, reaction-wise. I’m torn between alternately hating and respecting this book.

I am happy to have this tome off my tbr pile! I recognize that this is fine writing, but I honestly didn’t enjoy it. I find the problems of the Russian elite to be tiresome. I think this period of writing just isn’t for me - I lack the patience for these long, slow moving story lines.

Oh, my goodness. I was highly encouraged when I started this book on my kindle.However, I've been reading for 6 weeks and just looked at my progress. I'm less than halfway through!! I can't do it. On to other reading.
