What Members Thought
Woah. This is a dark, heavy book. It makes Notes from Underground feel like a picnic on a sunny day. In fact I can't help but think that the reason Russian lit is often dismissed as being dark and heavy in general is because so many people were forced to read it in High School. The characterization in this is really forceful. The way Raskolnikov bounces between psychological extremes at the drop of a pin is just so sudden, it almost made me physically queasy at times.
