This was a very well written book, detailed, very detailed in some cases, sometimes there were a little too much details in the beginning of the book, I found this unnecessary but then again, this is an autobiography of Reinaldo’s life, and for him all these details were important. It is a surprisingly good book.

Definitely leaves a lasting impression: brutal and at the same time lyrical language, very strong storytelling with deeply personal and political struggles as depicted in other powerful Latin American works. Read the book first, let it digest and then watch Javier Bardem’s Oscar nominated performance.
