A little over 20 years ago, I attended a book discussion in a local bookstore given by the author of this novel. I read the novel and enjoyed it, being taken in with the diversity of characters therein.

I like how this novel has multiple story lines that weave together. All of the characters live in one apartment building. It took me a long time to get into this book and I almost gave up on it, but by the middle of the book I really started to enjoy it. After reading this book, I am curious now to learn more about Hindu mythology. I don't usually like surrealism in fiction, but the dream sequences in this novel were pretty captivating. ...more
