Overall, an enjoyable and readable book. I loved hearing about life in India and the various characters. I only gave three stars though because of the book weaving back and forth through time made it a little confusing for me. I'm a little unsure of who exactly took the blame in the end. Of course, I read for fun and not on an intellectual level but this book confused me. I get that a horrible tragedy changed everyone's life in the book, and that the mother had an affair with an under-aged boy.

Definitely a 5 star book! It made me laugh a little, cry a little and admire the craftsmanship of words combined with the puzzle like structure. The way you know everything that will happen from the very begging while still keeping the best things for last.
Just like in a puzzle game you are given the picture to reconstruct from the beginning, in the same way here, you can see the big picture from the start. But that it’s not enough because everything it’s in the details, in the small things. So ...more
