What Members Thought
It is very well documented some slave owners had relationships with their female slaves even having children with them. This book shows four of these relationships as the white slave owner takes his black "wench" to vacation during the summer up north. I felt the author did a great job showing all of the difficulties these woman faced and what an intricate balance their lives were. The absolute appalling treatment of these woman invokes feelings of anger and hopelessness.
