Laurie Halse Anderson is a genius. She really captured the pain and torture that Melinda was going through. I saw the movie adaption of Speak and fell in love with it, but when i found out it was a book i FLIPPED out. My friend ended up getting the book for me the day after i found out it was a book. I started reading this book during school and finished it that same day. I got in so much trouble for reading during class but it was worth it. The pain that Melinda goes through is very powerful. L

I own this book. I really don't know why. Okay fine, I do know why - because I bought it - but I don't know why I bought it to begin with. I honestly think I might have confused the cover with "Fever," or maybe I was cajoled into purchasing it by the deceptively benign back cover that promised me the story would be immaculate.
