I wanted to like this book a lot but . . . I just couldn't get into it. I really enjoyed the flawed characters Archie and Samud, but I felt the narrative jumped around a lot, emphasizing some characters and relegating others to the background for a time. The scope seemed too big. However, this likely may have been more of my mindset rather than the book's fault - I just wasn't in the mood for this title when it came up for our book club. ...more
