Enjoy Marsden's writing style (although I find the random comparisons, scenes and memories that have no real connection with the action kinda annoying).
I think the return to 'normal' life is balanced rather nicely with the war parts of it. I mean, Marsden managed to write just enough about school and the farm and Gavin or whatever but also included scenes with soldiers and conflict and stuff.
