What Members Thought

Horror is a bit out of the norm for Orson Scott Card's books, so I ignored that label when deciding to read this. The central characters are Step Fletcher and his family, and the plot is built on the unexplained disappearances of young boys in the neighborhood where the family has just moved. What kept me reading the book was not the story-line at all, but the fact that, through most of it, we get to see the ordinary everyday life of a family of Mormons committed to their faith.

I did not read past the first or second chapter - this book is horrifying, by design, but I don't read horror. It's about a child molester and involves ghosts and stuff, and the nice Mormon family of one of the victims.
