In the conclusion to the audiobook the author, Orson Scott Card, said that when he submitted the outline for this book to his editor he was told it would be great, but he wasn't ready yet. It reminded me of what I heard Ken Follett said in the introduction to Pillars of the Earth - that he had to have a lot of experience writing other books to be able to write it. I do agree that it was less good than the previous books, because its "too much talk" and less "action", but it was genious again so it makes up for it, thats why it was still good.
