This is a masterpiece...even better than Ender's Game. He wrote Ender's Game as a novelette, then had a separate concept for a new book, in which the main character would be a Speaker for the Dead. After struggling to write the book he wanted, he eventually realized he should use his character, Ender, to fill the roll. He then wrote the novel version of Ender's Game in order to set up this book.

Nowhere near as good as Ender's Game but certainly some surprises that kept you guessing 'till the end. I don't know how I feel about OSC's use of Portuguese throughout. It seems strained like it was done on a whim. On the bright side, my Portuguese vocabulary is certainly getting better!
