What Members Thought
This is one of those instances wherein the movie inspired me to read the book. I must say, I was not disappointed with either of them.
F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote "The Great Gatsby" in a way I find beautiful. I would love to listen to this being told to me while I close my eyes and imagine Tobey Maguire as Nick and Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay. Aside from Nick, I find the other main characters annoyingly weak, but then again, this is a love story. ...more

Merry's Favorite.
I read this classic years ago and found it lacking.
With the movie release, I decided to pick it up again, expecting to experience more from the book this time around.
But here's the thing.... For me this book was just ok. Sure the writing is decent. And the characters are kind of interesting. But in the end the whole thing is just forgettable and not that outstanding. I was not blown away.
