Well I must say I expected something different. Still it was quite an interesting read and I liked the rather unusual portrayal of the main character who was nothing less tan a hero. A nice read for Halloween.

Loved this story as a child and it was always a Halloween staple! In reading the original story, I found the archaic language choices a little slow-going, but was delighted by the humor shining through. I thought the author's gift for description was brilliant - I had every scene pictured vividly. What I find really amazing is that every year I can never quite remember what actually becomes of Ichabod Crane in the end - after reading Irving's tale again as an adult I get that his running away to
