What Members Thought

Well it certainly didn't have on me the impact that 1984 did. I'm glad I read it but more for it's cultural value than it's entertainment value. And I am glad I was made aware of the comparative reading with the Russian Revolution before I started it as it made the reading experience so much more interesting.

George Orwell had this published just after the war. I believe it was based on communism and Stalin, but there are many parallels to the world of today. As a cat person, I just loved the way Orwell referred to the cat as an animal that just did not bother with what was going on around him. He just disappeared at the right moments. Otherwise I have started to look at some people in a different light now and again.
