I was immediately and fully engaged in this book and finished it extraordinarily quickly. Having been a teenager for most of the 1980s, I delighted in all the pop culture references and even if my favorites weren't fully explored, the ones that were meant that much more to me.

Perfect book for those geeks and computer nerds out there. Characters are good enough that you understand why they are doing what they are doing. Story is intriguing and the author builds it up well. It does take a few chapters to really get moving as the characters come on stage, but when it gets going, it doesn't stop.
Spoiler alert.

I really thouroughly enjoyed this novel. I am sure, that if you have read the summary, you know the general idea behind the book. But it was written in such a way that the sequence of events just draws you in. The structure of the book and Cline's style sucks you in and keeps you hanging on for the next reveal. You find yourself identifying with the main character and truly caring about him and his struggles. This is by far, the best book I read in 2015.

Ernest Cline impressed me with his 80's references and his ability to bring my childhood back to life with his storytelling. I love the connections from videogames, television shows, music, to toys. Some say it started slow, but I feel it only took a few chapters to get right into the characters and story line. I can't wait for the movie to see if Steven Spielberg can capture what I have in my head. One of my favorites, if not my favorite book, of all time!
