I won't go on a long winded review again. If you've made it this far you know the series flaws and you'll either have accepted them or like me will decide to move on. The world that's been built is interesting, the magic system is relatively standard but creates fun opportunities, and the characters are familiar without being to bland. I'm a little puzzled at the beginning of the book, with the dinosaur egg that was supposed to last only 103 days in storage, then the poor egg was never mentioned again for the entire rest of the book. What was that all about?
Nice extension to the storyline, it continues the story nicely, and even begins to show how much our main character cares for his people. Not that there was much doubt of that given the content of the first three books, but still, it is always nice to see characters stick t ...more

3.5/5 — As the other books in this series have been so far, it’s not terribly well written but much fun. The author is imaginative and tells a good story. For some reason I didn’t enjoy this one quite as much as the earlier one, maybe the immaturity of the main character bothered me more this time. He is largely a dumb-ass and acts like a 17 year old boy making it unrealistic to me that so many would pledge loyalty...but most of them came from much worse situations so...maybe.
