What Members Thought

I am giving this book 4 stars. 3 for the story and 1 more for the narrator. I liked it a lot but thought it was going to be so much more. It is fine for the faint of heart, doesn't get into detail about what exactly the mom did. It is left to your imagination and that is great but I was expecting more from Phoebe. She was definitely pushed to the point I think anyone would break. I figured the end out but that was okay. Glad I listened to this one. I think I enjoyed more that if I had read it.

Listened by audio and read at the same time. The writing style is very poetic. It's about a girl named Milly who is 15 years old when the book starts. Her mother is a serial killer who had killed children. Milly is the one who turned her mother into the authorities. This book is dark and creepy as Milly tends to have been possessed with her moms thoughts. The audio book I listened to at a very slow pace since I had the CD which you cannot speed up. It's amazing that this is the authors debut nov

3.5
I went back and forth on how to rate this book. I couldn't decide between a 3 or 4, so 3.5 it is. Firstly I've go to say for a debut this was really good. The writing style really bothered me at first. I ultimately got used to it but the "yoda speak" is definitely not a style that I like. Ultimately the story pulled me in. I was rooting for Milly to listen to her "good side" the whole story. I don't think there is anything groundbreaking in this story. But it was thoruoughly entertaining. ...more

Holy *^%#! This was one twisted story with twisted characters. Millie/Annie was super unreliable and it was hard to tell what her intentions were. Her mother was a messed up psychopath who raised her daughter and involved her in every step of her awful plans. Every answer led to more questions which propelled the story forward and kept me reading.
