While I really enjoyed this book and look forward to future books in this new series I do have some concerns.

Let me start with the basic story, I loved it, a race of beings that were genetically engineered by ancient colonists, to be slaves are living fairly peacefully generations (centuries?) later after overthrowing their human masters makes this an almost automatic "I love that plot".

Jax upsets the balance of the human/kraken who are both living almost unknown of the others existence by rescu

A Gripping Tale!
Prepare to be gripped, and I don’t just mean by Jax’s tentacles as Tiffany Roberts transports us to a fantastic new planet and a unique romance in Treasure of the Abyss. Human Macy fears the sea, though she once loved it. When deep in its depths she encounters the “alien” kraken Jax, an octopoid-humanoid creature. Her horror prompts irrational reactions and deadly actions. Jax the Wanderer is equal parts confused and compelled by Macy’s strangeness, and the evolution of this unus

The H has tentacles and extreme prejudice against humans, unfortunate for human h. Dystopian setting, H & h are unhappy, mistrust each other, yet are curiously attracted. Well written, simple characters in a complex world.

Definitely an interesting story that has me looking forward to the next book. While the theme (alien-type romance) may not be a new one, these characters and this world were very engaging and unique. I did have a little trouble picturing the kraken in my head, but this was not the author's fault as she gave a thorough description. But my mind kept trying to put legs on them when in fact they had no lower body if I read things right. The love felt between the H and h helped me overcome any issues ...more

Not in a reviewing mood so I'll be brief, but... 4 stars for content. I enjoyed the story and the characters.
Audible: I added the whispersync audible narration to this kindle book. I do NOT recommend listening to the audio book. It is better to just read this one. There are two narrators. The female was fine but the male wasn't my favorite. He didn't enunciate well or speak clearly and the way he spoke did not match Jax's character.

I enjoyed the romance. The world building was interesting too.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

Hero (all krakens too) were created by the original settlers of the colony around 300 years ago. The humans just forgot.

Hero and heroine have a baby girl at the end of the book.
