Fantastic story telling, flawless world building, fun characters and a story that unfolds so easily I could see the scenes, feel the chill and smell the scents. The young h appears rather ordinary, yet we soon learn more about her - a kind woman who will not compromise her ideals. Loved it.

Ilona Andrews are my favourite authors, I would even be interested to read their take on a phone book. But I'm not the least bit biased when I say this series is marvelous and that you should read it. And that I envy you who have not yet read it for the thrill in store for you. Not that I don't reread this book on a regular basis, but the first thrill of discovery is always something else.

I'm not even going to address the writing, character development, plot line, pacing, ......, these factors a Ilona Andrews are my favourite authors, I would even be interested to read their take on a phone book. But I'm not the least bit biased when I say this series is marvelous and that you should read it. And that I envy you who have not yet read it for the thrill in store for you. Not that I don't reread this book on a regular basis, but the first thrill of discovery is always something else.

I'm not even going to address the writing, character development, plot line, pacing, ......, these factors are a given in any and all IA books. I'm going to write about the world building, which is just plain fantastic, magical, spellbinding, exciting,.... you get the picture.

In these books, which are at the same time loosely connected to the Edge series, but can be read alone, our world is a multi dimensional, as well as multi planetary universe. Say, Star Wars meets Howl's moving castle, meets one thousand and one nights, meets the Elegant Universe by Brian Greene. In this complex system, earth's a neutral planet protected by very complex and strict inter planetary and interdimensional laws, and inns are the safe havens where, once a guest checks in, they are protected by all the magical might and power of the inn and its keepers, and the complete power exerted and executed by the entire inter galactic and inter-magical-realms governing bodies. Inns are scattered around earth, some are even located in the middle of suburbs under the unsuspecting, and sometimes suspicious, noses of their denizens. They look like ordinary houses from the outside, but once inside you step in a realm where the laws of physics, as known to most of us, don't rule. Rooms expand or shrink, the inn might repel a guest, or keep them in holding, turn its attic into a grand ballroom, open a portal unto a faraway desert on the other end of the galaxy, or inside an interdimensional bazaar. The sole ruler of the inn, is its keeper, and the inn is the source of the innkeepers power. In this book it is the heroine who is the keeper. The hero is an infuriatingly noble, charismatic, beauiful,.... well, hero. He's not precisely a man so to speak. There are two other books to rate and rave about. I"ll spare you with story recaps, after 500+ reviews there's no need.What I liked about this was the world building.The descriptions of the subdivision/ inn felt like a little comfy town with quirky neighbors. I also liked the banter between Sean and Dina-both stubborn,a little full of themselves. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves UF especially IA other series Kate Daniels and Edge . The world building for the Inn and the powers it held were fantastic and so creative. I loved seeing all of the magic that Gertrude Hunt Inn and Dina possessed. I really enjoyed the story but thought that the pacing was slow and it was long winded at many parts. I will definitely continue on to book 2 in this series.

Light hearted and refreshing Clean Sweep is a delightful and highly entertaining read. And I’ll be sure to add other books by the writing duo known as Ilona Andrews to my growing to-read list.
