I could not get involved with the main character. Maybe because he didn't speak for quite a few chapters. I will probably come back to try again. Others have said this is a good book.

I've found a new favourite fantasy series. Wonderful characters (view spoiler), engaging plot,a believable yet fantastical world, laugh out loud moments aplenty and a gripping last quarter. The multiple POVs and time jumps were used appropriately and I was never confused as to where in the story I was. It's official... Fantasy and I just don't get along. Judging by the great reviews, this is a pretty good book. And the story was interesting, but there was just TOO MUCH detail for me to wade through and still care about the actual characters in the story-- I think I would have loved this at about 300 pages less, but that's not the story this author wanted to tell.
