At the beginning of the story it seems like Toby has everything she needs, a loving husband, a sweet little girl to love and cherish, Lyndsey’s Rating Scale:

Overview:
Let me introduce you to October Daye (love October as a name) or better known as Toby to anyone who matters. Toby is a changeling, half fae and half human. At the beginning of the story it seems like Toby has everything she needs, a loving husband, a sweet little girl to love and cherish, and a respectable job. In one instance of carelessness she loses everything. After being gone 14 years Toby has returned to find that she no longer fits into her old life and has no desire to go back to the fae world since it was the cause of her current predicament. Unfortunately, a carefully spoken curse and an unexpected death changes everything.

Thoughts, Likes, Dislikes:
My actual rating is 3.5 but I just couldn’t round up this time. The world built by the author was very intriguing (I love the fae) but I also thought it had a lot of holes. There always seemed to be new rules popping up around every corner and a lot of hidden background stories that you needed for everything to make sense. For that reason alone I will probably read the next book. Huh? Maybe the author is just a genius and knows how to keep people interested??? Anyways… about the story! This was a really enjoyable urban fantasy mystery. You had death, love, political intrigue, and of course a crazy person. I should have known who the killer was but for whatever reason I was distracted by the beginning of the book. I hope at some point in this series we get that answers to why that happened. Toby was a somewhat likeable character but it really irritated me how she distanced herself from everything when she got back. I guess it makes sense but I prefer female characters that fight a little harder for what they believe in/love. However, that seemed to be changing towards the end of the story. If you like the fae and you like mystery then this might be the book for you.
