This is my second read - I read this when it first came out 15 years ago. I would say that this series, which one of the early UF series has held up well. It's

Great world building, engaging characters but the story resolution was just a bit convoluted for me.

I had just finished all the Sookie Stackhouse books. I wondered if this series would be just as good. It is. I love having a heroine who is a mechanic and a fox shapeshifter. As soon as I read this first book, I had to start the second book.
This was a re-read for me. Mercy is awesome. She's strong and she will be (I'm sure) evolving throughout the series. My big issues is Patricia Briggs only does one book a year! A goal of mine is to get caught-up in this series by 2/2013 before the new book releases.

I loved this book! I cannot believe it had been sitting on my bookshelf for a year before I forced myself to read it. I loved Mercy! She's smart, loyal, and stubborn as hell. I can't wait to read the next one.
