I'm pretty sure that this would be a 5 star except that I had the feeling that I was dropped into the middle of the story and had to figure it out on my own from there. I enjoyed the characters, the dialogue and will definitely continue--hopefully I know enough from the first book to feel like I actually know what's happening next time.

The fourth book Magic Slays was soooo good that I decided a reread of the series was a good idea, especially since I keep hearing people who recommend Kate Daniels saying the first book was just okay (I gave it a "really liked it" the first time through, so we'll see how it holds up to a second read. I am two chapters in and I am not remembering anything (except for the wierd Mscan), which is the beauty of being memory challenged sometimes - "everything old is new again":)

Crazy to think I'm re-reading this again after almost 15~ years. So much nostalgia for me with this series, and even after all this time, it's not hard to see why I fell in love with this world.
Kate is one of my most fav MCs I've read. She acquired a lot of her skills because she studied, she trained hard. Because she had to survive. Even with her bravado she remains grounded and self-aware, and with so many MCs out there that are all talk, Kate actually backs it up and it's s ...more

I just finished the first three books in the Kate Daniel series. It's now one of my new favorite series. These are must reads! The first book was good and the subsequent books just got better and better. The style of the books reminds me of a cross between the Mercy Thompson series and the early Anita Blake books. Lots of action, adventure, suspense, mystery and a bit of romance.

I can't believe it took me this long to start this series. What was I thinking? Excited to get on to the next books.

This is by far my favorite series. I always come back to this series, but the 1st book is a bit rough to get through and I tend to skip a few parts.
Graphic Audio has done its magic and revamped the story. I was truly excited to see what could happen. There was no Graphic Audio Edition as of yet so I will link it.
