Okay, so I didn't feel like this book was super amazing or anything...but I did like it. I think I was still fresh enough out of my adolescent years to appreciate Holden Caulfield's views on life and people. It had been over 40 years since I first read The Catcher in the Ryeso it was like reading it for the first time. I am sure I totally related to Holden when I was 17 but 40 years later I could enjoy all the characters as an outsider looking in. Salinger's style of telling the story in open train-of-thought was quite radical at the time, but he draws you into the phobic thoughts of Holden Caulfield so that the reader can almost predict what direction the storyline will take.
