This book was breathtaking.
I've always looked at this series with mild distaste, not even bothering to read the back. Just a week ago I was at a bookstore and felt like looking at it. I bought it that night after reading parts of it.
I quickly fell in love with every character. I even loved Chairman Meow. Jace was probably my favorite. He was cool, sexy, and a bad boy...but he was emotional and showed his emotions only to Clary. And Clary was a character that I actually can relate to and enjoy re ...more

This book was a bit shallow, but most books for teens are. And it had contradictions that don't bother most people but bother me. Such as at one point it states that the main character has no pockets, then pages later she puts something in her pocket. The ending wasn't how I wanted it to end, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good.

Not that great.
It was a long book, which usually means I fall in love with at least one character, but not this time! Nope, not even Jace, who many of you seem to love, did it for me.
And it took forever too. I suppose it's because drama is more of a page-turner for me than action is.
although the book did have a fair amount of drama as well.
All in all, I'll read the second book eventually. ...more
