My rating is unfairly weighted because I’m a fan of George Saunders. Really, I’m middle of the road on this book. It’s a little weird and kind of fun in parts. We get to know some interesting ghosts. There are some deeply touching parts: letting go can be unbearable and Saunders really does the work of putting himself into Lincoln’s grief like one of his ghosts, looking at this moment of real history and imagining what compelled the 16th president.
