Agricultural fencing may not seem the most promising subject for a black comedy, but this book is surprisingly funny and a very easy read.
The English narrator is working for a Scottish high-tensile fencing company, and has just been put in charge of a fencing gang whose other members are Tam and Richie, two truculent, lazy and hard drinking Scottish caricatures, one of whom is permanently in debt.
