As important a read today as when it was written. The beauty myth is still well an truly haunting women and girls today with societies increasingly high pressure.
Side note: whilst reading this I saw images from a woman’s hens party themed ‘50s housewife.’ When women are still under the spell of what society dictates, there is clear evidence that this, and the feminine mystique are required reading. If such times and stereotypes are romanticised there is never be progress. Let’s get educated!!

Very interesting read on how 'beauty' is used to control women. It needs to be updated to include recent statistics as well as the impact of the internet, social media, third wave of feminism and positive body movement has had on the definition of beauty and the beauty myth.
