This story works wonderfully as an audiobook; it took me a while to get into it, but I was completely engrossed by the end. It is also an interesting take on feminist speculative fiction and dystopia. It raised many questions for me, more often about how things could so easily have been different to what was described than about Gilead itself—so, then, why did Atwood make the choices she did?
