This book is the 6th installment in the Peculiar Crimes Unit series, but only the 1st I've read. The PCU is tasked to nvestigate unusual crimes, is headed by 2 very senior (advanced in age) detectives and staffed by a very odd combination of law enforcement types. Middle age women are dying in the pubs of London and the PCU is on the case. This was charming. I would have probably enjoyed it even more, and forgiven the rather improbable plot, had I read the series from the beginning. The characters were quirky and I also appreciated the humor. I'll be looking for more of these.
