American Gods
, by Neil Gaiman, is definitely an interesting read. This was the first of his books that I had picked up, and I did so because I really enjoyed the movie
Stardust
. I had heard that, amazingly, that book wasn't quite as good as the movie, so American Gods caught my interest instead.

I am torn on this book. I think it has an interesting premise and a good central storyline. I understand other readers' critiques concerning the lack of passion in the character, but I feel like that is intentional and reflective of the main characters name and role in the story. My complaint is that this book has a major lull about 300 pages in, that it could be 100-200 pages shorter and just as good. I did not appreciate the "coming to america" and "interlude" sections.
