The reader for the unabridged audio version of this book had a decent voice for the book, but the plot is so complicated that the book didn't translate well to audio format. I don't know if it would have been easier to follow if I'd been reading, but I found that if there was the slightest distraction from listening, I'd lose track of what was happening.

Not quite what I'd expected...although I did enjoy it. So quintessentially a hardboiled detective case, and I know Chandler set the bar for those. I just felt like I was lost sometimes through it, although it did fall together quite well in the end. I think. I do adore Philip Marlowe, he certainly is everything he's cracked up to be. I would like to read more of his stories, though, before making a solid judgment about Chandler.
