One of the things that I appreciate about Okorafor's writing is her ability to completely and quickly immerse me into her stories and characters which is why she is among a handful of authors whose novellas I can count on to be satisfying. This novella is so immersive! It's beautiful, atmospheric, and so filled with isolation and loneliness as our main character wanders from place to place trying to find that which can make her belong again. I think this likely has layers upon layers of meaning beneath each of the episodic encounters in the story, although a lot of it went over my head. I still really enjoyed my time reading this, though, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys something slower and more contemplativ
