Although I enjoyed most of this - good Audible narration - with great settings and characters, I have problems with cliff-hanger endings. There were unexpected elements to the ending - clever twists, yes. But I hesitate from reading Book 2 when I know that Book 3 is the end.

The book was interesting and had a detailed society and cast of characters. One strong point that I thought would lead to good book club discussions were some parallels to problems in modern society. For example, some people are forced into a never-ending cycle of slavery when they are unable to pay their debts.
