I expected to be blown away. But that didn’t happen.
I liked certain parts of the story and was bored by other parts.
Having said that, I was really excited at the beginning. Pi’s early life at the zoo in India, the way in which he got his name and his celebration of different religions made for an enjoyable first section.
The second part of the book including the journey at sea and Pi’s attempts to survive aboard a lifeboat felt a bit stretched. Perhaps the purpose of this long, drawn-out secti ...more

It took me a long time to finish this book, much longer than it usually takes to tear through a book I enjoy. It kinda felt like one of those books we were "forced" to read in school before having to dissect it for all of the hidden meanings, if you know what I mean. However, in all fairness, this probably wasn't the best time for me to read a book like this. I should've stuck with something a bit lighter. Sheer escapism. It was amazing. I can't wait to see the film adaptation. I think there was some gruesome scenes but it was suspenseful.
