This was the second time I had tried to read this book. I made it more than half way though the first time, and just felt so bogged down by the "game" battle explanations and the fact that kids as young as 6 were taken from their homes and forced to be soldiers, that I ended up putting it down, deciding that I didn't like Ender's Game one bit. We listened to the audio version of this book on a family road trip. It was an excellent book. The ideas were really well thought out. I usually have problems at some point with the suspension of disbelief during books like this but it was no problem during this book because of the careful thought the author put into how things would work. I found the ending was a bit abrupt but think it worked given its premise.

So I really enjoyed this book. It was a very interesting journey into what goes on inside someones military brain. Ender, who is just a little boy but also a genius, is carefully molded into a military mastermind, and it is all done by him discovering new ways and means of defeating a computer game of space battles. While it had it's problems, I was eventually drawn into the story and could not put it down.

Great ideas, nice twists, well paced. Looking forward to reading more books in the series now.
