I'll be processing this for a while, I think, but I can definitely see why it lingers in the public consciousness and considered a classic. It's quite the kitchen sink of a work, though: musings on writing, colonialism, communism (in the 1950s, England and contrasted to US), mental health, societal expectations, sex, feminism, and probably more that has already gotten lost in the jumble.
