I wouldn't have finished this novel if I wasn't reading it along with a group, which is a huge reason I love read alongs. Anyway, this was (for me) really difficult to follow. There is a family tree at the beginning of the book, but to be honest it wasn't that helpful. There is poetry, mythology, and tales throughout the book. Though, I feel it was more of a history of modern Oman and a family. I'm glad I read it.
