This is not a book to read on a train or bus or a commute or anywhere that you are interrupted.
It's a story to be savored and enjoyed in long, uninterrupted periods!

I loved this story, and V.E. Schwab is quickly becoming a fav author.
The other 2 books I've read of hers are The Archived and The Unbound, and I loved both of them.

This story is about 4 Londons existing in the same space but in different dimensions.
There is gray London, where most of the magic has been leached out of the world.

Upon reread: Jesus, the positivity of this book. And it just gets better as the series progresses. So whimsical.

[self note] buy a paperback to annotate

As expected of V.E. Schwab, a really strong book with great world building. I am beyond words for the way this book unraveled itself, from the world to the characters. I'm looking forward to finding out more about the characters.
Love how the book is playing with the definition of a protagonist and character development.

Confession: I only picked up A Darker Shade of Magic because of the hype and because I had a credit on Audible. I don’t regret it.

Slow Beginnings

I had actually got this from the library but couldn’t get into it when I was reading. To be fair, I didn’t have a lot of time or try very hard. That said, once I started actively using audio books, I decided to give it another chance. I figured that I would slowly chip away at it and finish it eventually.

It took me a long time to become invested in the
