This book was similar to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. Aisling Grey is new at her "job", and bumbles a bit. Also has the same kind of romantic tensions....just the love interest happens to be paranormal. ;)

I read this for the first time in high school so let's say 2011 and just read the book again. I love Katie MacAlister's writing. There's world-building, but not so much that you have to take notes to understand what's happening. She cleverly writes the main character as having no idea what the supernatural world is so the book naturally includes explanations for the reader. Her characters are funny and even though it's a book in the fantasy realm, it's not outlandish.
