This was a well-researched and well-written little book, but other than how the birthday of hockey players affects their success, there is little of fascination here, and much of it appears to be written by Captain Obvious, such as, it doesn't pay to be a genius unless you arrive at the moment your area of expertise is going into high demand and you've practiced, practiced, practiced--gosh, whodathunkit! Just finished the Outliers and it was a great read. My only regret is that I took so long to finish it. I didn’t realize how insightful all of his discoveries would be. I found myself dumbfounded at the end of each of the nine chapters. The major discoveries lie in the first third of the book. Gladwell personalizes his writing by sharing his own lineage in the epilogue which of course lines up with the sightings he presents.
Good stuff and a worthwhile read.
